A Few of My Favorite Workout Apps
Workout apps are hard to come by lately. Since the idea of health and fitness has become such a hot topic, everyone wants to be up-to-date on the latest exercise trends to feel and look better. Many go to workout apps or fitness bloggers for ideas on how to look better, but sometimes that’s not the best idea. Find out why here.
Since there are so many fitness bloggers and fitness influencers on social media sharing their favorite exercises, people will just follow along with their videos. Sometimes, if not explained well enough, people will often not do the exercise right because it is not being explained to them in the correct way, whether it’s the form that needs to be explained or the correct amount of weight that needs to be used in the exercise. That can result in not only not being able to do it right, but also maybe even hurting yourself from following along.
Fitness apps can also do the same thing if not explained well enough, but they are also not specific enough to each person, therefore, the results might not be exactly what you wanted. Each body type is different, therefore being given an exercise such as Russian Twist might give results to one person and not another. In that case, how can you find the right exercises to do that will give you the best results?
I have gone through endless trials of exercises to test which ones feel the best and are the most challenging (since the harder they are, the better!) Once I get too comfortable with a certain exercise, I either up the weight on it, modify it in some way, or take it out and replace it with another exercise.
My first influence on learning new exercises is through my trainer. Each session, she teaches me new exercises, like TRX, HIIT exercises, or strength, or we review older exercises to make sure I have the proper form. She teaches me how to incorporate more muscle groups into one exercise to get more out of a workout.
My second exercise influence are the very few workout apps that I use. Like I said before, it’s hard to know if the app is actually reliable or not, and you often have to pay for many of them too. With that being said, these workout apps that I am sharing are reliable sources as they come from the experts (personal trainer recommended):
Muscle and Motion: This app was recommended by my trainer and I absolutely love it. They do a great job at explaining exactly what to do all while telling you the science behind doing the exercise what to do afterwards to counteract that exercise. I highly recommend downloading this app if you are interested in more than just learning new workouts. Although you do have to pay for the premium version to learn new leg workouts, the free version comes with abs and core, arms, chest, and back, as well as TRX, functional training and lifting.
TRX app: The TRX app was made my the person who came out with the TRX itself. With that being said, the app is geared directly towards TRX everything. If you are interested in learning more TRX moves, give this app a try, it’s free!
Nike Training: I downloaded Nike Training as a way to try to learn new exercises. Although the exercises are basic, they are still very good ones. If you need to expand your workout plan, definitely check this app out!
Gymshark: If you follow Gymshark on Instagram, you know the account is all about strength, lifting and defined muscles. The app is nothing less! They have many strength exercises taught by athletes and pros to break down each muscle group.
Fiton: This all free, exercise app covers everything, from quick workouts, to strength, yoga, pilates and even cardio! They do a very good job at forming very specific exercises for your goals of exercising. They break down each video into muscle group and level of intensities, so whether you want a short and high intensity workout or a longer workout, they’ve got you covered!
Enjoy these amazing workout apps!
