How to Get a Tan During Quarantine

SO, if you are anything like me, your summer is dedicated to getting as tan as you can possibly get. Occasionally, I get carried away and get a little burnt, but it happens. When I picture my summer, I picture me relaxing at the pool or beach and listening to music. I put my Australian Gold on my body and my Aveeno face lotion on my face. But, with Quarantine and these unknown times, we don’t know what this summer has in store. Corona’s really setting our tanning standards back, but it shouldn’t have too! I’ve put together a few useful tips on how to maintain that bronze tan during the summer of quarantine.

If you are unaware, I already have a few posts about tanning from previous summers. I have one about my tanning routine here and another about some general tips on maintaining a tan here.

Based off of those two articles, here are some quarantine specific tips to help you through the summer:

1) Do as much as you can outside, whether it’s working out outside or just working outside. I find that, in the morning, doing my workout outside has improved my tan. The prime tanning time is from 11-3, which is when the UV index is at it’s highest. So, if you see sun outside, be sure to soak it in.

2) Wear clothes that expose the most skin as possible. If you are working out outside, wear shorts and a sports bra instead of leggings and a short sleeve shirt to avoid uneven tan lines. You will find that a majority of the time, your shoulders will get the most tan while working out outside because you are mostly standing up.

3) Wear dark colors. Dark colors absorb sun, while light colors reflect sun. So, if you want to get a more intense tan in your yard, wear dark colors and sit on a dark colored towel or mat.

4) Cloudy days are still good tanning days. If it is warm outside, but cloudy, don’t get discouraged because you will still get some color. Just because the sun isn’t beaming straight down at you, doesn’t mean you won’t get tan since the UV rays are still going through the clouds.

5) Rotate on bathing suit cuts. If you are wearing a triangle bikini one day, alternate to a strapless the next day so the tan lines won’t become more defined.

6) Lastly, and I save the best for last, get Australian Gold. It is a game changer for bronzing lotion. First off, it really feels like lotion. It does not make your skin feel gross and oily, and it smells amazing. Second off, you will notice a difference in color almost immediately no matter what type of skin you have. They also have an after sun lotion that you can apply afterwards to keep that skin hydrated and tan.

Now go out there and get the best Quarantine tan that you can get!
