The Ultimate Summer
So, we are almost back to normal, which means it’s almost hot girl summer! I plan on taking advantage of this summer to its fullest capacity because it is my last summer before I graduate college (RIP). I have some fun activities planned, but how can I make this one last summer the absolute best?
First stop: Texas. My first time on an airplane since covid will be to celebrate my cousins bachelorette party in Austin Texas! I am so looking forward to celebrating with her and friends while making new memories together.
Second stop: Punta Cana. My second trip is to Punta Cana with my boyfriend as our FIRST international trip over 5 and a half years that we have been dating!! I am also super proud to say that we planned this vacation together, so that was definitely an accomplishment. We are staying for an entire week and I am so excited for all the adventures and time at the beach. I will definitely be making a vlog video of this trip.
Third stop: LA. I can’t wait to go visit my friends from college in LA and I want to do so many other things on the West Coast! I plan to go for hikes and the beach (again). I also want to meet a few of my Warriors friends who are out in LA !
Fourth and final stop *cue the NYC subway womans voice * (#justnycthings): Avalon. Every year since as long as I can remember, my family and I have ended our summer down at the Jersey shore in Avalon. It's one of my favorite places to go and I can’t wait to go back again this year! We are staying for two whole weeks and will be having a lot of guests come visit as well.
Speaking of NYC, I will most definitely be making many day trips to the city. Since bars are open again and I am 21 BABY!, I want to go to as many rooftop bars and night bars with my friends as I can. I could also go for a good summer picnic at Central Park too!
In between my travels I want to tackle some other fun things which I don’t always have time to do during the school year:
Work on my social media: I want to challenge myself to produce better content. I also want to familiarize myself with Tik Tok and build up the confidence to post videos. As I start getting more exposure with the social media industry by working with more businesses, I want to apply these skills to my own social media because, who knows, maybe year #6 will be the year Fashiontoflow takes off? One could only hope!
Further develop my fitness passion: I have been working a lot on my own fitness progress, but I also want to get back into teaching people again! I dabbled in this last summer through a virtual fitness program called Moxie and a two week challenge through WeAreWarriors. I want to help people on a more personal level. So far, I have made workout routines for a few people and would love to continue doing that.
Skincare and diet: This summer, I want to focus on what type of foods are going into my body. I have already started by replacing milk and cheese with almond milk and vegan cheese and I have seen my skin clear up a lot. I have also started using Sonya Dakar skincare products which work actual wonders. I feel like my face has a constant glow and I am wearing much less make up because there is nothing to cover up!
Focus more on the moment and less on the pictures: This summer I want to also focus on not finding everything “instagrammable”. Something that I have been reflecting on lately is my perception of beauty. Because I am a sucker for shopping and clothes, I can be so easily sucked in to viewing my beauty as materialistic. I’ll constantly buy clothes because that’s what I think I will feel beautiful in, but I want to change that.
Do fun projects: I have made a promise to myself that once a week I am going to do a fun project, whether that is making a mood board or put together a video of something. Taking the time to do something I enjoy is so important. These activities don’t need to take hours to do, but getting my creativity on makes the time more fun!
Like most people say, by the time summer comes around, summer is basically done, so be sure to enjoy the moments that you have. Don’t take it for granted, especially after being cooped up for so long!
